How to Generate a Security Endorsement (TSA Letter)

The TSA Letter, also known as the Security Endorsement, is a critical document for air export shipments involving U.S.-based airlines, airports, or shipments originating from the United States. It ensures compliance with security regulations established by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Steps to Generate a TSA Letter (Security Endorsement)

  1. Open the Master AWB (Master Air Waybill)
    • Navigate to the Master AWB section of your air export shipment.
  2. Access the Tools Menu
    • Click on the Tools button in the Master AWB.
    • Select Security Endorsement from the drop-down menu.
  3. Customize the TSA Letter
    • KNOWN SHIPPER: If the shipper participates in the Known Shipper Program and meets TSA requirements, select the "KNOWN SHIPPER" option.
    • UNKNOWN SHIPPER: If the shipper’s identity or security credentials have not been verified, select the "UNKNOWN SHIPPER" option.
    • Expiration Date: Decide whether to display the expiration date of the TSA approval number. This date can be modified as needed and will be remembered in your preferences after the first input.
    • TSA Approval No.: If your TSA Approval No. is not displayed on the TSA Letter, please reach out to the GoFreight support team and provide your TSA Approval No. We will assist you in updating it in the system.
  4. Select the Shipper Type Section
    • At the bottom of the preview page, choose to display the KNOWN SHIPPER or UNKNOWN SHIPPER section by checking the corresponding box.
  5. Generate the TSA Letter
    • Once all details are completed, generate the TSA Letter by:
      • Saving it as a PDF.
      • Printing the document.
      • Sending it via email.
  6. Record-Keeping
    • A copy of the generated TSA Letter will be automatically saved in the Doc Center of your Master AWB for your records.
