How to Generate an ATME for Air Import Shipments to the US

What is an ATME?

An ATME (Authority to Make Entry) is a shipping document required for air import shipments to the United States. It serves as an alternative to an air waybill and grants authorization to a designated individual or firm to make the necessary customs entry and pick up the cargo.

The ATME contains essential details, including:

  • Shipper and consignee information
  • Flight details
  • Shipment description, weight, and measurements

This document facilitates smooth customs clearance and cargo retrieval by providing the necessary authorization and documentation required by U.S. customs authorities.

How to Generate an ATME

  1. Open the Shipment File
    • Navigate to the air import shipment file for which you need to generate the ATME.
  2. Generate the ATME at the MAWB (Master Air Waybill) Level
    • Go to the Tools section in the MAWB.
    • Click on Authority (ATME) to open the ATME preview page.
  3. Generate the ATME at the HAWB (House Air Waybill) Level
    • Alternatively, go to the Tools section in the HAWB.
    • Click on Authority (ATME) to open the ATME preview page.

ATME Preview Page

  • The ATME preview page allows you to review and make any final modifications to the document before generating it.
  • Once satisfied, you can:
    • Generate a PDF file
    • Print the ATME
    • Email it to the concerned parties

Important Note: Any changes made on the preview page will not be saved in the shipment's basic entry.

Record-Keeping

  • Once the ATME is generated, it will be automatically saved in the Doc Center of your Master AWB or House AWB for future reference and record-keeping purposes.

ATME Form Details

  • The form includes the following sections:
    • Shipper, consignee, and notify party information at the top
    • Flight details of the shipment
    • Shipment description, including weight and measurements

By following these steps, you will be able to efficiently generate an ATME for your air import shipments to the US.
