How to Generate and Analyze the Volume & Profit Chart

The Volume & Profit Chart provides a visual representation of shipment volume and profit, enabling businesses to analyze performance based on data recorded in GoFreight. This guide will walk you through generating the Volume & Profit Chart, understanding the key parameters, and customizing it for in-depth business analysis.

Navigating to the Volume & Profit Chart

  1. Go to the Reports Section
    • Navigate to [Report] in the main menu.
    • Select [Volume & Profit Chart] from the left-side navigation bar.

Setting Up the Chart Conditions

At the top of the Volume & Profit Chart page, you will find several fields that allow you to define the conditions for generating the chart. Below are the key options:

1. Period Selection (Required Field)

  • The chart must include a defined period.
  • You can filter by:
    • Post Date: Shipment Post Date
    • ETD (Estimated Time of Departure): When the shipment is expected to leave.
    • ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival): When the shipment is expected to arrive.
  • Select the desired date range for analysis.

2. Shipping Type Selection

  • By default, all shipping types are included.
  • You can manually filter specific types (e.g., Ocean Import, Ocean Export).

3. Volume Unit Selection

  • Choose one of the following units to define the vertical axis:
    • #TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit)
    • #Container/CBM (Cubic Meter)
    • #B/L (Bill of Lading) / AWB (Air Waybill)
  • If selecting #TEU, ensure container settings are correct via [Settings] > [Container TP/SZ].
    • By default, only the Admin and General Manager can access the Settings menu.

4. Chart Type Selection

  • Default option: Month (Monthly Volume & Profit Chart)
  • Additional types available:
    • Customer: Displays top volume and most profitable customers.
    • Carrier: Shows volume and costs related to ocean or air carriers.
    • Trade Partner Types (e.g., Customer, Carrier, Oversea Agent): Allows further filtering before generating the chart.

5. Office Selection

  • If your GoFreight account has only one office, it will be selected by default.
  • If multiple offices exist, you can specify a particular office, or click “Select All” to select all offices.

6. Salesperson Selection

  • Limit the results to a specific salesperson if needed.

7. Bar Segment Customization

  • Add segmentation to the chart for deeper insights.
  • Available options: Shipping Type, Incoterms, Sales Types, Ship Mode.

8. Shipment Status Filter

  • Choose to include:
    • All shipments
    • Only "Open" shipments
    • Only "Blocked" shipments

Generating the Chart

  1. Once all selections are made, click [View].
  2. The chart will appear below with:
    • Horizontal axis: Defined by the selected chart type.
    • Left vertical axis: Volume representation.
    • Right vertical axis: Profit representation.
  3. Hover over a bar to see detailed data.

Customizing and Downloading the Chart

Using Filters

  • Apply filters to display specific results (e.g., data for January, March, and May only).

Downloading Options

  • Click the arrow icon at the top right to choose from:
    • Download as…: Save the chart as an image, e.g., PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF files.
    • Save as…: Download the data in spreadsheet format, e.g., CSV, XLSX, JSON files.
    • Print: Generate a hard copy.
    • Annotations & Drawings: Add notes before exporting.
